New Orleans Legal Assistance Corporation
Access to our civil justice system can determine whether a family has a place to live, food to eat, basic subsistence income, health care, adequate education and protection from domestic violence and abuse.
For those who cannot afford a lawyer, there is help. The New Orleans Legal Assistance Corporation (NOLAC) is a non-profit law firm which provides free civil legal assistance for the 300,000 low-income persons in Greater New Orleans.
NOLAC provides many different services to its clients. They include:

Who Can NOLAC help?
Any low income resident of St. Bernard, Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines and St. Charles Parishes. Our services are available to low income persons without regard to race, religion, sex, age, handicap, sexual orientation or national origin.
Generally, a person is eligible for our legal services if his family income is less than 125% of the poverty level.
